Tour description
Departure from Novi Sad at 9:00 AM in front of your hotel or by arrangement.
We arrive in Sremski Karlovci, situated on the right bank of the Danube River, a place that has marked the cultural, spiritual, and political history of the Serbs. The exceptionally preserved Baroque architecture combined with unusual stories about events and people who have shaped the history of this place will captivate you at first sight. Sightseeing of the city center, its major landmarks, and notably one of the greatest - the Patriarchate Court. After the tour, free time for photography and individual activities.
After a short break, we continue our journey, and after a brief drive, we first arrive at the Krušedol Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Fruška Gora, dating back to the 15th century. At the entrance to the monastery courtyard stands a tall red gate, and upon entry, you will see a spacious green courtyard filled with peace and tranquility. The values preserved in the monastery are numerous, from architecture, significant museum collections, and fresco paintings, to the tombs of famous historical figures. The monastery is also considered one of the most significant Serbian monasteries. Here, we will pause for lunch at the Krušedolka restaurant, located near the monastery. The restaurant is situated on an elevation, and its terrace offers a beautiful view of the monastery and the surrounding forest.
The next visit is to the Grgeteg Monastery, a women's monastery located amidst the dense forests of Fruška Gora. The monastery was built in the 15th century and has been frequently destroyed and ruined throughout history. Grgeteg Monastery is surrounded by forests, meadows, and valleys and today represents one of the most imposing monasteries of Fruška Gora.
We cannot miss visiting the Velika Remeta Monastery (late 13th and early 14th century), one of the oldest of the 16 monasteries on Fruška Gora. What it is widely known for is the "Paradise Garden" located in front of the monastery, representing a true oasis of peace. The garden was created by monks and nuns from the monastery. However, what makes the Velika Remeta Monastery even more famous is undoubtedly its bell tower, which is as tall as an eight-story building.
Return to the hotel in the evening hours (approximately 6:00 PM). End of the tour.
